DONALD E. LASSERE CHAIR, BOARD OF DIRECTORS PRESIDENT AND CEO DEAR FRIENDS, “Service to others” is embedded in the DNA of the Muhammad Ali Center. We, as a staff and board, strive to serve others through our programs, exhibits, global partnerships and individual acts of compassion. In 2017, we had over 114,000 visitors from around the world. Our visitors were treated to the legacy of Muhammad Ali by visiting our exhibits under- girded by his Six Core Principles: Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect and Spirituality. We are extremely proud of how we were able to serve our community in 2017. More than 8,000 students, many from Title 1 schools, visited us here at the Muhammad Ali Center where they learned about issues related to education, gender equality and global citizenship. In addition, through our partnership with Global Game Changers, we helped to provide after school enrichment to “at-risk” students from Whitney Young Elementary School in Louisville. Further- more, we provided professional development training to 500 K-12 teachers and were the host site for over 300 community events. On the international front, we partnered with Youth Charter, a United Kingdom (UK) based NGO, to launch our Float Like a Butterfly program. We started this pilot program at Saint Mary's Primary School in Manchester, UK where many of the students come from immigrant families who often feel isolated and disaffected. This program is designed
